TrackStudio 2.8 Alpha has been released

Postby admin » Mon Sep 22, 2003 5:59 pm

Download it here:
http://www.trackstudio.com/tse-28/Track ... -alpha.zip

This version quite stable, but has old documentation. Please send me bug reports/feedback.

PS. You can try it with your production database, but BACKUP YOUR DATABASE BEFORE. We does not support upgrades from alpha/beta versions (but you can upgrate to alpha/beta).

What do you mean when you say "we does not support upgrades from alpha/beta versions?

If you want to test 2.8 Alpha with your database, you can copy your database on different server and run it with different TrackStudio instance. But you should not add real data to 2.8 Alpha instance, because when we release it - we provide only scripts to update from 2.7.x to 2.8, not from 2.8 Alpha to 2.8

This is because we test 2.8 under very few DBMSs and if we find some problems with other DBMSs (unsupported field name, for example) - we can change 2.8 database structure without additional notice, we also need not write (and, mor important, test) scripts to upgrade from 2.8 Alpha to 2.8.
