Discuss problems installing or using TrackStudio.

I have another idea - TrackStudio 3.5 likes to "eat" DBMS connections, this can lead to such problem.

This problem has been likely fixed in this version:
SA + JRE for Windows: http://www.trackstudio.com/tse-35/Track ... th_jre.exe
SA + JRE for Linux: http://www.trackstudio.com/tse-35/Track ... jre.tar.gz
SA for Windows: http://www.trackstudio.com/tse-35/Track ... indows.exe
SA for UNIX: http://www.trackstudio.com/tse-35/Track ... nix.tar.gz
WAR: http://www.trackstudio.com/tse-35/TrackStudio_3558.zip

We have also introduced .vmoptions files, where you can set java startup options.

Anyway, there is no easy way to understand what happend. If this doesn't help, we need to install runtime profiler module on your server, run it and connect to the server with profiler to analyze it.

So, .58 worth to try.

what exactly does it take to run the profiler on our system? Would you send us the profiler to install? And then we run the profiler on our system? And then send you back profiler log files?

im assuming that the profiler will reduce trackstudio performance? Do you have an idea of how much it might degrade? The performance issue that we experience happens every week or longer. So that means we'd have to leave the profiler running for quite a long time.

Profiler will be slow if you run it in "Tracing" mode, but in "Sampling" mode overhead is low, you likely don't notice it.

ok, so im trying to install the YJP on a test-version of trackstudio that we have. There is only ssh access to that box so i will have to connect to it remotely via the windows YJP.

but i cant seem to get trackstudio to run with the profiler. I followed the instructions here http://www.yourkit.com/docs/80/help/profiling_j2ee_remote.jsp but i think its not working because it assumes that we start trackstudio using the lib/start.jar but we start trackstudio via the jetty script which does not seem to reference start.jar

and the jetty script seems way to much to casually trace through to find out whats going on!

the error on running start_with_yjp.sh is
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/commons/logging/LogFactory
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClassCond(Unknown Source)

any suggestions?

I suggest you add required params to jetty.vmoptions (one per line) and start it using jetty.exe
