Hi,

I'm trying to work out how to create a custom field for subtasks, such that when I create a new subtask it gets a unique numeric identifier that's visible on the screen. I can create a new custom field, but can't see any way to give this a unique number automatically. Is this possible?

The reason I ask is that when you have a project with potentially many hundreds of issues, it is useful to be able to refer to them by a unique ID rather than the name.

In 2.7 you can't implement such functionality, but in 2.8 we'll implement numeric auto-increment task id.

Also, calculated custom fields that you can use in filters, reports or email notification rules also will be available.
