If I have defined an optional list custom field on a workflow and a value is entered and the task saved, how can the field be cleared later?

e.g., a "problem" task is created which is initially triaged as a "bug" and the "module" custom field (a list of modules the problem could be in) is set to a particular module.

The problem is later found to be a user error. Consequently the "module" is no longer relevant. However, I can't find a way to select nothing in the "module" list custom field.

It seems like you should add "<Nothing>" value to the custom field, search tasks with wrong value and update them.

Is "<Nothing>" a special value?

Currently I'm using "Not Applicable". i.e., is the only difference the text displayed? Or does "<Nothing>" get some special handling?

Would it be possible in a future version to automatically add an empty selection to the list if the field is optional?
