Filters: visible fields and filter criterion fields

Postby victor » Wed Nov 19, 2003 6:25 pm

Hello,

I think that the first time that I talk about it I dont explain it very well...

I have a filter to show only 'My submissions' (task where I am the submitter), ok?. But I cant that the submiter field column was showed in the list of task ... It is logical because if I am using the filter 'My submissions' I dont need to see the submiter because for every filtered task I am going to see my name, see it is something unnecessary and occupy a valuable space.

The more direct solution that I can think could be:
- Modify the edit filter sheet and substitute the enable checkbox by two independent checkboxes:
a) View: This checkbox control if the field would be displayed in the filter results.
b) Filtering: This checkbox enable a filter criterion (enable the controls to define the filter criterion like the actual checkbox do).

Thanks,

Another solution what dont need new interface, only new code:

Control behavior:
- Left checkbox is always enabled and means 'show field'.
- Filtering controls (combos and lists for define filter criterions) are always enabled and mean 'filter using this field and defined condition'.

Then:
- When a 'show field' checkbox is checked the field is showed.
- When filtering controls are meaning 'filter nothing' then the filter criterion for this field is ignored.

Example of filtering controls meaning 'filter nothing':
- Number, text or date field type: the value editbox is empty.
- List of items: the selected condition is set to 'is' and the item 'All items' is selected.
