Email Notifications

Postby greg » Thu Oct 09, 2003 8:01 pm

I'm a TrackStudio newbie, and have a newbie question.

When I create a filter and request notification, how often does that notification get sent? Is that configurable? Is it a job I have to turn on myself?

Thanks.

Email notification is one of the most comprehensive feature of TrackStudio, its highly configurable. Please refer
http://trackstudio.com/documentation/Fi ... ption.html
and
http://trackstudio.com/documentation/No ... Email.html
for more information.

You can also search this forum, this is quite popular topic.

PS. I already wrote more advanced docs about email notification, but we need to translate it. I'll submit it here in a week or two.

There is something I don't understand. I am hoping it is something simple I am overlooking.

I have a filter. When someone enters a new task which passes the filter, I see it in my list of tasks using that filter. I have notification set so I should receive email notification when the task is added, but I do not receive that email notification.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

We are using Enterprise. The log looks like this when I add a new task.

Do you enable email notification and set smtp server ?
Please ensure that you set email for your user.
Also please ensure that you enable email notification for parent project of added task.

Yes. The following properties are set in the .properties files:

# Send email notification, yes/no
trackstudio.sendMail yes

## Mail transport protocol. Should be smtp
mail.transport.protocol smtp

## SMTP host
mail.smtp.host mail.accessidaho.org

admin wrote:Please ensure that you set email for your user.

Yes. The user has a valid email correctly set.

I don't understand this.

Thank you.

I don't understand this.

When you press "notify" checkbox you enable email notification not for all tasks, but only for task (and their subtasks) where you enable this checkbox.
Suppose you have tasks A and their subtasks - SubA, SubB. You create some filter for task A - it accessible both for SubA and SubB. Then you select SubA, goto Filter->Notify and check "Notify" checkbox. Now you enable email notification for task SubA and their subtasks only. If you create subtask SubSubA - you should recevie notification, if SubSubB or SubC - you shouldn't.

Please ensure that you enable email notification for right task.

Also please read following step-by-step guide:
