Automatic Link Expansion

Postby waldorml » Fri Mar 12, 2010 4:40 pm

hello,
A group required an area for tracking non-software tasks (action items) so I used a category/workflow we had made some time ago (mid 2008). In the new task/area, automatic expansion doesn't happen yet in the earlier instances (from mid-2008), it does. From earlier posts, I'm fairly certain I can't turn off automatic expansion, is that a correct assertion? I also have noticed that the message description/task description fields are reformating the text that's entered -- I pasted an HTML-based email from Outlook2007 and it removed newlines/formatting entirely.

Could the two items be related? (I mean, something with the character encoding we're entering that could cause the daemon that inserts links automatically to miss a link). I have not gotten a chance to restart the server yet.

Generally problems with automatic expansion means problem with browser cookies. Please try to clear cookies first.

I cleared cookies and tried again -- no luck. I did some more testing. It seems that when making a new issue the description automatically has a non-printable character (i'm assuming space) listed. if you follow that space by a "#4", you only get "_#4" in the description (_ is the space). If you delete that first character and just save "#4", you get the expansion for item 4.

interestingly enough, the description field for a message doesn't have this character so just typing "#4" in the description works. I tried entering"_#4" in a message (substitute space for _) and did not get the expansion either.

(I'm using V. 3.5.28 still -- working on an upgrade)

This can be a source of the problem - 3.5.28 is quite old and I don't remember this problem on latest versions.
